Autism support group to hold April 2 awareness walk in Upper Moorman Park – Muddy River News

QUINCY – The Quincy Area Autism Support Group’s annual event and awareness walk runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 2 at Upper Moorman Park, 1610 Moorman Park. The Walk for Autism Acceptance and Awareness will begin at 11 a.m. with activities to follow. Food and refreshments will be provided.

This event/awareness walk is a day to celebrate loved ones and friends living with autism. World Autism Awareness Day is internationally recognized on April 2. She encourages others to raise awareness for people living with autism around the world. The Walk for Autism Acceptance and Awareness will bring together families, caregivers and organizations to raise awareness for people with the disorder.

The mission of the group is to provide families and caregivers of people with autism spectrum disorders a chance to learn, share and gain support from other members. The group provides free resources for families, teachers, caregivers and others. It also provides educational speakers and hands-on learning opportunities to enhance the quality of life and child success at home, school, and in the community.

This event will not be canceled due to weather. The group also asks people not to bring bicycles, roller skates, in-line skates or skateboards to the walk. Strollers and carts are encouraged.
