Addressing the 70th Plenary Session of the North East Council (NEC) here, Shah said the merger process has already begun.
“The government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is prioritizing natural agriculture and digital agriculture and for the certification of natural products, the process of forming a multi-state cooperative society by merging Amul and five others cooperative societies was launched,” he said. .
The MSCS will ensure the export of the products after it is certified so that the profits can go directly to the farmers’ bank accounts, he added.
The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd markets its products under the Amul brand.
Earlier on Friday, while speaking at the North-Eastern Cooperative Dairy Conclave in Gangtok, Shah stressed the need to double milk production in the country over the next five years, not only to meet the demand of the internal market, but also to that of neighboring countries. countries.
“We have a huge opportunity to deliver milk to countries like Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and to explore this global market, the government is setting up a multi-state cooperative that will serve export house,” he said. .
