AUSTIN, TX – Urban roots is an agriculture-based youth leadership organization whose mission is to use food and agriculture to transform the lives of young people. It is also dedicated to inspiring, engaging and nurturing the community.
The organization started in 2008 with just 15 teenagers and land as a project of another youth development organization, eventually becoming an independent nonprofit in 2011.

Urban Roots Farm in East Austin spans 3.5 acres and offers teens and young adults paid internships focused not only on farming, but also on growing them as leaders and good citizens.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Urban Roots is organizing a Farm Tour event on May 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is sold out, but you can still participate in the raffle.
