Local non-profit center becomes ‘the source’ for LGBT + youth advocacy
During this event, our young people will meet in a safe environment to determine the different ways of defending their interests in their community through workshops of creativity, well-being and active engagement. They will learn that by coming together they can create more powerful voices. Local creative artist Priscilla McNamara will be the keynote speaker. Workshops designed to empower youth include “Radical Self-Love” presented by Fresno EOC, slam poetry with Mike Jasso and “Know Your Rights” by California Rural Legal Assistance (CRLA). Participants will receive a workshop kit to help them think, take notes and develop ideas. The pizza will fuel the day’s activities, and the first 50 participants to arrive are entered into a draw to win a raffle gift basket valued at $ 100.
After the workshops and the closing ceremony, there is a “rave refill” prepared and ready for all the young participants. With snacks, drinks, and a safe space to have fun and dance with like-minded peers, the party starts at 3:10 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m.
“Young people will leave determined to uplift power not only within themselves, but throughout their communities. Amplify your voice! Register by Friday, December 10 and be part of this change our world needs, ”said a press release from Source.
