Maui Cancer Resources offers a cancer support group with sessions to inspire, empower and stay connected to the community.

Meetings are held every two weeks with cancer survivor Dena Jackson, her life coach, and Dr.

Participants are encouraged to share advice and wisdom to help others along the way, while building a community of friends.

“The beauty of this particular support group is our dedication to uplifting, supporting and defending each other. This group is about empowerment at a time when we are most vulnerable,” organizers say. “Cancer is a lonely disease, and you have to rely on yourself, your strength and your perseverance to get through it. It’s a personal challenge, and you can decide how you’re going to handle it. This is when you really get to know yourself. With a group like MCR, we support each other, we support each other, we encourage each other to continue and to go strong.

The group is made up of people on all different parts of the trip. The group provides support to encourage each other, give advice, share experiences, provide encouragement and share in honesty and truth.
