Sayab Farmers Cooperative Society Limited of San Antonio is now officially registered as Belize’s New Cooperative

By Ruben Morales Iglesias: The Sayab Farmers Group of San Antonio in Cayo District was officially registered Friday morning as Belize’s newest cooperative under the name Sayab Farmers Co-operative Society Limited, according to Belize’s Department of Cooperatives and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE).

“Sayab Farmers Co-operative, a vegetable production group in San Antonio, Cayo District, received its official registration documents today in a short ceremony where Minister Jose Abelardo Mai was present to testify and declare the new cooperative officially registered,” the Ministry said.

During the registration ceremony, the president of the new cooperative, Cesar Mesh, presented Minister Mai with a certificate of appreciation “for your valuable contribution to the registration of our cooperation”.

“The new cooperative has been in existence for several years as a group and is now taking the bold step of becoming an official organization with all the benefits that come with its official designation.”

The registration ceremony was organized and carried out by the Belize Cooperative Department at Sayab Farms in San Antonio, Cayo District.

According to Luis Pook, director of communications at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Business, the Sayab Farmers Co-operative Society Limited is made up of women, youth and farmers.
