The 69th All India Cooperative Week will be held in the town of Sedam, Kalaburagi district from November 14 and this is the first time that the district is hosting the National Cooperative Week.
At a press conference in Kalaburagi on Friday, MP and Chairman of Kalaburagi-Yadgir DCC Bank, Rajkumar Patil Telkur, said members of cooperative societies across the state, rural cooperative societies and four chairpersons of DDC Bank would participate in the event.
He said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will inaugurate the event and President of Karnataka State Cooperative Federation GT Deve Gowda will participate in the inaugural ceremony of the week whose farewell ceremony will be held in Mysuru.

Mr Telkur said Mr Bommai would relaunch the Yeshasvini health program at the event and health cards would be distributed to 25,000 beneficiaries with APL and BPL cards. In addition, 10,000 workers registered with the department would obtain worker cards. At the event, interest-free loans of around ₹200 crore to 5,000 women’s self-help groups and 1,000 farmers would be symbolically distributed, he said.
A team from Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath had arrived to give the city a festive look ahead of the event, with roads and walls painted and beautifully decorated with lights. Each department would have dedicated counters to provide information on the different social protection schemes, he informed.
A team of district officials and a team of 100 members from the district health and family welfare department were given various responsibilities to ensure that the program was well organized. Nearly one million people, including 25,000 women, are expected to participate in the program. Transport facilities, including 500 KKRTC buses and 2,000 four-wheeled vehicles, have also been provided.
DCC Bank Vice Chairman Suresh Sajjan and Managing Director Sharanabasappa Bennur were present.
