18 year old shooting
An 18-year-old man was shot dead in York on Friday night, police said.
The shooting occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m. near Turkey Hill, at the corner of Carlisle Avenue and Linden Avenue.
The victim was transported to WellSpan York Hospital in a private vehicle, police said. He is in stable condition.

Demystifying animal welfare practices
The York County SPCA will host an in-person and virtual seminar on Demystifying Animal Welfare Practices at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The discussion will focus on humane euthanasia and what it means to be a safe haven without death.
There is a limit of only 10 people for the in-person meeting, with all other interested parties invited to join a Zoom call online.

Ruck event for veterans
York College students who are veterans and active duty members enrolled in the freshman seminary coordinate a Sunday noon running event at the Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center.
The ruck walks or runs with a weighted backpack and is a common exercise in military training camps.
Participants can choose between a 5K or 10K course on the rail track.
The cost is $ 20 before the event and $ 25 on the day of the event. All proceeds will be donated to For the Love of a Veteran, a local nonprofit serving veterans, www.fortheloveofaveteran.org/

Sharing grief
Hanover Biblical Calvary Church, 603 Wilson Ave. in Hanover, will host a grief-sharing session for surviving the holidays on Wednesday, November 17.
The sessions will take place from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.

Senior Commons at Powder Mill, 1775 Powder Mill Road, will host a free Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 18.
This meeting will focus on the importance of self-care as a caregiver.
