World Cooperative Day: CFAN and dRPC hold symposium in Abuja (LIVE UPDATE)
To commemorate World Cooperative Day 2022, the Cooperative Finance Agency of Nigeria (CFAN) will hold a high-level national symposium today in Abuja.
The symposium aims to highlight the importance of supporting Women’s Economic Cooperatives (WECs) in Nigeria.
This event is supported by the Development Research and Projects Center (dRPC), Partnership for Advancing Women in Economic Development (PAWED) and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).
World Cooperatives Day is celebrated every year on the first Saturday of July. It is an opportunity to promote the cooperative movement around the world and to present the successes, challenges and opportunities of cooperatives as a business model.
At the national high-level symposium, key stakeholders will observe panel evidence and hear from women cooperative members.
Stakeholders will be drawn from government MDAs, academicscivil society organizations, women’s economic cooperatives and the media.
Organizers said lessons learned from the event will inform the reshaping of investments that support women’s cooperative enterprises in the future.
